Founded in 2025, Imala Re operates as part of the Pine Walk platform, backed by The Fidelis Partnership. The name Imala is derived from Native American origins, meaning strong-minded and disciplined, values that define our approach to business.

About Us
Ivan Vega
CEO
Ivan founded Imala Re in October 2025. Ivan has 30+ years’ experience in the reinsurance industry, focused on Latin America and Caribbean. He was most recently at Navigators Re, positioned as Head of Latin America & Caribbean in 2010 to develop LatAm reinsurance treaty portfolio. Prior to this, Ivan spent 8 years as Head of Property Facultative for LatAm and Caribbean at White Mountains (US).
Edward Herrera
Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer
Edward Herrera has over 25 years of experience in reinsurance, with a strong focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. He currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer at Imala Re, where he works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chief Underwriter to support the growth of the company’s Latin American portfolio. Previously, he held senior underwriting roles at MS Reinsurance, Everest Reinsurance and Flagstone Reinsurance.
